What happens with my Clean Car Rebate?
If you're purchasing an electric or plug-in hybrid vehicle, you might be eligible for the Government's Clean Car Discount Scheme. You can apply for the rebate online and it's your choice if you would like to pay this towards your loan or keep it.
Can anyone apply for an electric vehicle loan?
Yes, anyone who is a New Zealand citizen or has a New Zealand resident visa can apply for a UDC Car Loan. You also must be at least 18 years old when applying. All loans will be subject to both our lending criteria and responsible lending inquiries being made.
Do I need to have a deposit before I apply?
Not always, UDC can consider financing up to 100% of the vehicle amount if required. All loans will be subject to both our lending criteria and responsible lending inquiries being made.
Can I get a loan approved while still looking for the car I want?
Yes. You can apply for a conditional approval to know how much you can borrow before you go shopping for an electric vehicle. You can apply for the amount you think you need, if approved, you can use your conditional approval at any registered vehicle dealer, or we can pay for a private purchase on your behalf. A conditional approval is valid for 30 days for consumer loans and 90 days for business loans.
How much can I borrow?
UDC's minimum loan amount is $10,000. You can use our online calculator to estimate what repayments will be and to ensure that they are affordable for you.
Can I use the loan to buy an electric vehicle privately?
Yes, and we can finance electric vehicles purchased through auctions such as Trade Me.
